It is becoming increasingly apparent that reliable sources are not the priority for the Associated Press that they used to be, at least it looks that way in Iraq. The phantom Captain Jamil Hussein, an AP sources for numerous stories, appears to have gotten his captain’s bars from a box of Cap’n Crunch, for both Iraqi officials and US military officials say there is no such police officer by that name. One can conclude that this will-o’-the-wisp is as concrete as a Jayson Blair source.
Curt, a fellow ex-Marine, of Flopping Aces, has been all over this story like Rosie O’Donnell at a breakfast buffet.
